Jonsered – A history of the brand
Table of Contents
The Swedish manufacturer has a highly impressive track record within the chainsaw industry. This may be partly due to the fact Sweden’s land mass is covered by 75% forest and boasts a rich history of producing lumberjacks. So as you can imagine, Jonsered know what they are talking about when it comes to felling trees and handling chainsaws. After all, they were the first to manufacture a single man chainsaw.
Although this made the life of lumberjacks at the time so much easier, little did they know that it would one day become the blueprint for all other chainsaws ever produced. The inventors of the modern day chainsaw were bought out by Electrolux in 1978, who at the time also owned Husqvarna. Jonsered did eventually part ways with Electrolux, however, and are now owned by Husqvarna, meaning that some of their chainsaws are actually manufactured by Husqvarna.

Husqvarna – A history of the brand
As is the case with Jonsered, Husqvarna are also a Swedish founded company. This means that they too have rich history and knowledge of cutting down trees and handling chainsaws. The Husqvarna brand has been known for over 300 years. However, most of this time was not dedicated to producing chainsaws.
The company’s long history does demonstrate that their products are high quality and what people want. Otherwise they would not have stood the test of time – right? It was not until 60 years ago, in 1959, that Husqvarna first began making chainsaws. This proved to be a huge turning point in the company’s history. It was at this point that they attracted the attention of Electrolux, who bought them out in 1978.
However, Husqvarna were successful enough that they were able to buy back their company, along with Jonsered, in 2006. While Husqvarna may not have been in the chainsaw industry for as long as the other big names, in that time they have successfully managed to take a large proportion of the market.

Conclusion
Both manufacturers make high quality and high functioning power tools. This is clear to see from our look at the Jonsered CS2550 18 Inch Gas Chainsaw and the Husqvarna 450 2 Cycle Gas Powered Chainsaw. Based on our review of the Jonsered 2250 vs Husqvarna 450 and our own experiences of each brand, we have determined that it is Husqvarna that produces the best chainsaws.
Although our preference is Husqvarna, it does not mean that Jonsered chainsaws are bad – the truth is, in fact, far from it. One thing that did take into consideration but never mentioned in the review was our experience at our local Husqvarna service centre which was much better than our experience at the Jonsered centre, which was rather poor. This is an important and much looked over consideration.
